Does the Newly Effective California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) Impact You?
Does the Newly Effective California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) Impact You?
Over the past few years data privacy has taken center stage. Personal data such as your name, shopping habits, location, and even the conversations in your own home are now being collected by countless companies and then sold, typically without your knowledge or consent. On January 1, 2020, California took the first major step in trying to protect personal data and clarify an individual’s rights over their data. While this legislation may be aimed at the Googles and Facebooks of the world, its application is certainly not limited to those public company behemoths.

The Importance of Fully Completing the I-9 Form
The Importance of Fully Completing the I-9 Form
*As of 1/31/20, there is a new I-9 Form. Click here for more information.*
Employers must verify that they have a fully complete I-9 for each employee. ICE has increased I-9 audits to record levels, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.
Employers cannot discriminate against employees on the basis of national origin or citizenship. Companies must walk a fine line between the verification requirements to avoid knowingly hiring or continuing to employ an individual who is not authorized to work in the United States and the prohibition against discrimination.

54th Arizona Legislative Session: What to Watch
The Second Regular Session of the 54th Arizona Legislature is currently underway down at the State Capitol, where our State Senators and Representatives have already introduced more than 1,000 bills for consideration. Yes, one thousand. Of course, some of these proposals will not see the light of day. Others will be debated and rejected (one we are watching already has been rejected). Some of these bills will fail, but then reappear under a new number later. And yes, a couple hundred of these ideas will make it all the way through the Legislature and onto Governor Ducey’s desk, where he usually signs most – but never all!
