Firm Admin Appointed to International ALA Position
Firm Administrator Sharon Williams was recently elected to a new position within the International Association of Legal Administrators. She has been appointed to the International Business Partner Project Team which works to implement strategic decisions and develop processes to enhance the relationship between members and business partners. This is a two year position which Sharon takes over as she completes her term as President of the Arizona chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators. It is her sixth year since joining the Arizona Chapter of ALA in 2012.
Sharon Williams joined the legal field over 30 years ago starting off as a receptionist and working her way to her current position as Firm Administrator for Gammage & Burnham.

Minimum Wage
Don’t forget that the minimum wage in Arizona is now $10.50 effective January 1, 2018 and will move to $11.00 an hour effective January 1, 2019.

SAMHSA Issues Final Confidentiality Rule
On January 3, 2018, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration the issued final rule on “Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records” in January 2017. At the time the final rule was issued, SAMHSA concurrently issued a supplemental notice of proposed
rulemaking with comment period; these changes are the result of that supplemental notice.
Changes include the following:
1. Under § 2.32, “Prohibition on Re-Disclosure,” paragraph (a)(2) permits an abbreviated notice to address the character limitations in standard free-text fields of electronic systems.
Grady Gammage, Jr. Speaks at “Water in Arizona: Our Past, Present and Future” event
On Friday, January 19th, 2018, Founding Partner Grady Gammage, Jr. took the stage with former U.S. Senator Jon Kyl at an event titled “Water in Arizona: Our Past, Present and Future.” This event, hosted by the Arizona Chamber Foundation, Prosper Arizona, and the ASU Kyl Center for Water Policy featured an in depth discussion between Gammage and Kyl about the state of water in Arizona. The event welcomed a range of attendees, from legislators and policy makers to business leaders and educators, all interested in understanding how our future will flow.
In conjunction with the talk, Prosper Arizona published a policy brief to summarize the state of water in Arizona.

Double Bubble, Ltd. had its secured claim deflated in U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission v. ISC, Inc., 2017WL 3736796 (U.S.D.Ct., W.D.Wisc., 2017).
ISC, Inc., doing business as Insurance Service Center was in receivership. Double Bubble claimed to be a secured creditor with a security interest perfected by the filing of a Uniform Commercial Code financing statement with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.
