Client Gorman & Company Receives Approval for Valor on Eighth Project
Congratulations to our client Gorman & Company on their recently approved affordable housing project for veterans in the City of Tempe. The Valor on Eight will be located on a parcel near Arizona State University at Rural Road and Eight Street, just south of University Drive. Gorman will be the developer of the project and will be working in partnership with the City of Tempe and Save the Family to develop this community.
The 50-unit rental community will include five market rate, live/work units in a U-shaped building varying in height from three stories at the street front to four stories on the south side, built over a ground-level, 44-space parking area.

Client FICO Sahuarita Farms Specific Plan Unanimously Approved by Council
Congratulations to client FICO on the unanimous approval of its Sahuarita Farms Specific Plan and Development Agreement. The approval comes more than 4-years after FICO initially submitted the plan and after dozens of public meetings, hearings, and open houses. Gammage & Burnham has assisted FICO throughout this process.
The Sahuarita Farms plan will guide the development of FICO’s farmland as it transitions to other uses over the next 40-50 years. It will create a sustainable community that includes housing, commercial and employment uses, parks, trails, and open space. Sahuarita Farms also includes a river master plan that transforms the 12-miles of the Santa Cruz River running through the town into recreation and natural areas while providing flood control.
Client Douglas Wilson Companies Secures Hotel Operator for Tempe Project
Congratulations to our client the Douglas Wilson Companies on their recent announcement that Kimpton Hotel & Restaurants will be the hotel operator at the One | Hundred | Mill development project in Tempe. One | Hundred | Mill is a joint venture between Douglas Wilson and Hensel Phelps Development LLC. The venture, known as Hayden House Tempe, LLC, is developing a $190 million mixed-use creative office, retail and lifestyle-hotel development located on the 2.51 acre parcel at the southwest corner of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway, the former Monti’s La Casa Vieja site. In addition to the 15-story hotel , this landmark project consists of a 15-story 260,000 square foot Class A office building and 20,000 square feet of complimentary restaurant and retail space.
Client Wetta Ventures to Bring Two New Restaurants to Phoenix in Newest Redevelopment Project
Firm client Wetta Ventures recently purchased the Maple House Furniture building for their latest redevelopment project. The building will be renovated to create two restaurant spaces. The building is located at the southeast corner of Indian School Road and 28th Street in Phoenix.
Wetta Ventures has successfully redeveloped several high-profile restaurant and retail projects in the Valley. Their projects include: the Annex in Tempe, a public-private venture with ASU that houses Postino Winecafe and Snooze; Old School O7 (which was recently sold), located at the corner of Osborn Road and Seventh Street in Phoenix, home to Taco Guild, Buffalo Exchange, and Starbucks; and their newest projects: CB20 along the Camelback Corridor in Phoenix and a multiple-restaurant building at SkySong in Scottsdale.
