Mickell Summerhays is a litigator focused on helping her clients find practical solutions. Mickell has diverse litigation experience, but focuses her practice on construction law, contract disputes, and commercial litigation. Mickell has been named a Southwest Super Lawyers Rising Star and one of Phoenix Magazine’s Top Lawyers.  

Throughout her career, Mickell has helped her clients achieve a variety of favorable results, including:

  • Successfully resolving disputes without litigation, including negotiating favorable settlements and guiding cases through mediation.
  • Guiding clients through litigation and arbitration process, including experience at hearings and trial.
  • Advising business owners and contractors about how to protect their business by creating favorable business contracts.
  • Presenting successful administrative cases before the Arizona Office of Administrative Hearings.

Before joining Gammage & Burnham, Mickell started her legal career at the Arizona Court of Appeals as a law clerk first, for the Honorable Michael J. Brown and then for the then-Chief Judge Peter B. Swann. Mickell then practiced law at a small firm focused on construction law and commercial litigation. Prior to law school, Mickell worked as communications director for a local branch of the National Association of Realtors, where she managed public relations, oversaw communications between the Association and Realtor members, and cultivated media relationships. 

Outside of the office, Mickell enjoys spending time with her husband and sons. She is involved with the Maricopa Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Division, as well as the State Bar of Arizona, where she recently graduated from the Bar Leadership Institute. In what free time she has left, Mickell enjoys golf, painting, and baking sourdough bread.
