John Dacey to Present to Court and Corrections Personnel regarding United States District Court’s Prisoner Mediation Program
August 28, 2014 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
On August 28, 2014, John Dacey will provide a program overview of the U.S. District’s Court’s Prison Litigation Mediation Program to an audience of state and federal corrections officials, private and government lawyers, retired judges and court staff. Over the last two years John has served as a court-appointed mediator in the state’s prisons to mediate inmates’ pro se civil rights lawsuits against state corrections officials that typically concern issues such as inmate access to medical care and exercise of religious beliefs. This 5-hour CLE program is by invitation only and is designed to expand the U.S. District Court’s mediation program by training more lawyers to serve as pro bono mediators and as limited-assignment counsel that will be appointed by the Court to advise inmates during the mediation process.
